Our Mission Statement
Our mission is to promote well-being of under-served communities in King and Pierce Counties, especially low-income minorities and immigrants. Cornerstone Medical Services provides culturally competent, affordable, and free health and human services - through multi-disciplinary, integrated, innovative, and evidence-based practices.
UniquenessCMS is one of over 30 free medical clinics in Washington state. The only one currently run by ethnic minorities and the only one with a multi-disciplinary and integrated approach.
CMS envisions to become a community health center with a full-fledged multidisciplinary and integrated approach, the first of its kind in the US.
Since our opening in June of 2008 ... We have served over 2,300 patients, with over 5,000 patient doctor encounters.
Quote from Dr. Chan B. Shin, Founder of Cornerstone Medical Services: "We are witnessing a paradigm shift, whereby ownership is no longer defined by finances but by community giving. We believe it is the person who takes care of others that experiences the most powerful form of equity."
